And to clarify, maybe I should title this - Eating my way through ATL. I got invited to a dinner with some other young women in ATL. It's supposed to be a supper club where we explore the city, talk about life post our MBA (I believe we all finished in May 2010), the dating/married/parental scene and just whatver. There must have been about 10 of us women and even though it was my first time meeting all but 2 of the ladies that work with me as well. I didnt have a hard time mingling. I've learned that you can always find commonality with people... I think my crazy consulting background has given me that :)...
Today was the first event and it was at a great location called JCT Kitchen. It was a trendy very classy restaurant with a great wine selection and my dinner was really great.
An added plus for me is that I got to explore a new side of town that I had never been to before... Absolutely enjoyed my evening...

The Hills are Alive - Sound of Music at Fox Theatre
So as part of my settling into ATL, I have decided that I will try to do as many different variety of events. - I really just want to get out and explore the city. So Roger's and Hammerstein's "sound of music" was coming through the city and I wanted to go. I went with a girlfriend and boy did we have a blast.
It was great to watch the show live. Listening to the same songs we grew up singing, listening to some of the same lines and watching how they altered the story line to make things fit was really great. It was also a great way to kick off the last few hours leading to my birthday.. I think everyone who can should go watch it.
What I particularly enjoyed
- Its amazing that little kids were actually on tour.. They could really sing and I was impressed
- The older guy who played the captain had a strong voice and I thought that was sexy
- they made Maria funnier
- I also appreciated that the play was shortened
- The uncle was funnier too. his jokes were more realistic and it made him more loveable
- Overall I think I enjoyed the singing :)

Salvador Dali - High Museum Atlanta
So Hello Art....
I'm not really into going to museums.. I guess I have my moments but today was one of those special moments. All around town, Salvador Dali's and his amazing moustache have been plastered across the city and I decided why not.. It's a good time as any to go see his work.
So i went with a girlfriend of mine and I loved it.
- His work is different, random but different
- For some random reason, (and I know partially because I am random), I quickly spotted some of the hidden messages in his work.
- One of his paintings - he painted humans fused together to look like a human skull. At a first glance, it looks like a squished skull but for some reason I saw the human bodies at a first glance.
- Learned that he worked with Disney to create a short cartoon. I watched the video and it is random.
- He has a signature piece that shows up in a lot of his work. I think I may actually be able to spot his work
- I never realized that artists have sketches :).. I know it makes perfect sense but never thought of it but it was great to see his.
- One of his special work was a sky view of Jesus nailed to the cross. very different I guess because most people think about it in terms of a view from below or face to face but not from his head down.
- I like the fact that he throws on very random things in one painting. Unique and different I must say..
I'm looking forward to some of Frank Gehry's stuff :)
