Okay so in April/May when we went to Paris, we were trying to figure out how to get to our hotel via train but we found it hard to read the map especially because it was in French. Some nice older guy stopped by and pointed out that we were looking at the bus routes not the train routes. Anyway, he was very helpful and we were very grateful. So I guess I've learned on a different level how it is nice to help other people.
I got a chance to help someone this weekend and I felt pretty good. I was waiting at the San Francisco Airport for my red eye flight to board. I was practically asleep when we finally began boarding. This young lady showed me her boarding pass and I learned from her that she was going to Dallas, basically she wanted to confirm she was getting on the right plane. She was from Vietnam and she barely spoke English so it made it hard to communicate. I got her to understand that it was the right plane but i didnt know how to let her know that she had to wait till her group # was called. I tried and I got to board early. I got on the plane and realized.... Duhhhhhh she could have boarded with me, I am platinum which means I board early.
Anyway I was aready on the plane and I figured she would get on shortly afterwards, she did come on and to my surprise she sat at the isle of my window seat so we smiled to each other. As usual, I fell asleep. When we landed, she again showed me her boarding pass. She was connecting via Dallas. So, I asked the flight attendant what gate she needed and it was a different terminal. The Dallas Airport is not easy to navigate so I took her via the skylink train to her gate and left. I felt good. I dont know..... I helped someone out... maybe when I get to Asia or on my next international trip, I would find help if I need it. But I feel as a world traveller I owe it to my fellow travellers to help them out. :)
