A few Birthday Surprises

So my birthday is right around the corner and I've become somewhat excited and somewhat creative. So I have vacation planned. 8/23 - 9/3. I will be flying back to California on Tuesday 9/4 since Monday is a public holiday. Anyway, I am counting down to this break from work. I do it every year around this time. I have decided that I would never work on my birthday and also I am always at the verge of loosing vacation and so I take a week and a half or two weeks off.

Anyway, I had talked up a storm about my birthday and vacation. I was walking in to work on Wednesday, my last day before my vacation, when I met up with a girlfriend of mine who had just arrived as well, she made a gift for me and it meant a lot. It was a beautiful pair of earrings. I totally loved it and she made it in pink as well. I was really taken aback. I guess it was totally unexpected but I loved it. Funny thing is that I was thinking about getting new pink earrings..... :). I dont need to anymore. Earlier on this month, one of my other friends got me an album from Hawaii.. loved it.

So, the day progresses and I was in the heart of transitioning all my responsibilites to my teammate when they called for an emergency meeting. This could not be good. I mean, the one time that happened, the project was cancelled and it was a mess. So I get in to the meeting room trying to figure out what was going on when everyone came in singing happy Birthday. I was totally caught off guard.... It was a great surprise... I later found out that my cubie (cube mate) was the one who figured out what kind of cake I like, I know she was asking me about my favorite icecream flavor earlier. Anyway, I really appreciate the thought and the gift and I felt really special.

I'm actually looking forward to the birthday itself now... I am heading to Vegas for the weekend and I will be catching up with one of my friends I havent seen in 4 years. I am looking forward to being spoiled and yes I have my camera with me.... ready to take pictures. I hear the USA Olympic basketball team will be in town. I have decided that I would take pictures of any tall dudes in vegas.... :)
