So today (after almost a week of bumming at home), I got off my lazy behind to do something practical and useful.... I went to a Royal etiquette class. Why?, it was my sisters brilliant idea and I thought it wouldnt hurt.
It was great. We went to the lady/coach's house and she was well dressed and need I say her house was well decorated (I have a thing for color and interior decorations). Anyway, we were 7 ladies/women total. The coach talked through so many things including first impressions, poise confidence, posture, walk and my favorite dinner etiquette. With all the travel I get to do, I get exposed to so much and to an extent, everyone has their own definition of how things should be. I know some other cultures have slightly different rules but its becoming harder to keep things straight with what is standard these days. The highlight for me is that I learned the difference between "Continental" and "American" at the dinner table.
I remember having lunch ("This one time in band camp"... okay kidding, in training) everyone got whatever they wanted from the buffet lines and so there I go delving into my salad first and then snacking on my meals and I had one of my friends eat his meal first and then go into his salad. I remember thinking.. huh he probably just got salad because me eating healthy made him feel guilty. Little did I know that that's the norm from the part of the world where he comes from.... Interesting.... Now I know better.
I would definitely recommend this class to everyone/anyone. You have to go with a good group though. I know this because I was the class clown and it helped to liven up the mood.
