Miami

Miami with the girls (Linda, Ogonna, Ifeoma, Nene, Ronke & Ogo)
Our Miami Songs –
Rolling down on 95…… (Well I don’t know who sings it or what the song title is but we were actually rolling down on I-95 when this song came on… It was just that “appropriate”
Baby Boy The Prince – This is the way I live (So yeah he was talking about “little boys still pushing big whips”… We are young (not little), not necessarily pushing big whips, we had a whip for the weekend though and we definitely had a blast.
Young Jeezy Feat. R. Kelly - Go getta
Fergie - Glamorous

My girlfriend, Nene “im’ed” me, herself and Linda (one of our other close friends) share the same birthday and were up for celebrating in Miami. I obviously say yes because Miami is one of those places that I’ve not visited and as someone who loves traveling it was on my “must-see” list in 2006 that I obviously didn’t see. So I buy my ticket 2 days later. Thursday 4/5 comes by and I get off work and head to the airport to catch my flight to Miami. Even though it was Easter weekend and we didn’t get extra days off, my mind was on vacation mode. Armed, with my camera and swim suit (Since there are no beaches in Texas really), I was on a mission to have fun and unwind.

I went to Miami with the Will Smith Song playing in my head… you know (♪ Welcome to Miami, bien venido a Miami ♪). It was me and 5 other beautiful, young ladies (most of whom I went to university with; 1 that I’ve known since my high school days, 2 since secondary school days (7th grade) and one new person I met this weekend (She fit right in with the group). I mean, it’s just awesome (a testimony really) catching up with these ladies… 3 of them, are in medical school, 1 is working for a major drug company, 1 in the financial industry and 1 (chemistry and HR). We live all over the country; Connecticut, Tampa, Dallas, San Francisco, North Carolina and Miami)

All in all, it was wonderful, I arrived on Friday morning at 8:00 am and we got to catch up, went to bayside but we couldn’t make the cruise because we got there pretty late and we had one more person to pick up from the airport. We went out Friday night to a club that sucked and that kind of dampened our mood.

The next day was better; we got to go on a boat at bayside and took a cruise to see famous people’s houses. Yeah so I’ve found my new neighbors, they just don’t know it yet. The scenery is just outstanding. We did a little shopping; buying things for the celebrants and I got my soon to be famous shoes. And as queen of sunglasses, I got to pick out sunglasses for all the ladies at a sunglass cart at bayside. Everyone was pleased with my decision and I must add that they looked fabulous.
We went to a nice restaurant called Clarke’s and we end up ringing in their birthdays with good food, fabulous wine and good conversation. We wrap up the evening at the club scene on Ocean’s Avenue, Clevelander for starters (phenomenal club by the way) and later on to Mangos to salsa for some of the ladies.

Reality began to set in when Ogonna had to leave… Sunday is here and that means that work was coming back to focus. She pretty much went from the club to the airport. The rest of us wake up on Sunday morning, catch up with God and then later on went to THE not so infamous South Beach. The view at the beach was just outstanding. It was too bad that I didn’t get some time to swim (We were there for about an hour because I had to catch my flight) and it took us like 15 minutes to find parking.

I got on the first leg of my flight (Ft. Lauderdale – Phoenix) reviewing my pictures. I have to admit, I thought we looked really really good and we had so much fun. I get slapped into reality, when my plane lands late and I have to RUN to catch my connecting flight (Phoenix – San Francisco). After catching my breath, I seat back and reminisce (in First Class of course – flying regularly has its perks) on the whole weekend and I have to admit that I loved it. All of it actually, including those precious moments when we took wrong turns and needed to map our way back to our destinations.

I can't believe I missed Shaq's house but it is all good. I will catch it next time. Although, the house did not look like it was all that. I am glad you had fun.

I read your blog and it was good. You are a prolific writer. I need you to write a 10 page essay on how pretty I am. That would help your blog. lol
